It entails first part which is introduction containing the different types of oscilloscope like; cathode ray oscilloscope as called the analog, digital storage oscilloscope, dual beam oscilloscope, analog storage oscilloscope and mixed domain oscilloscope. Introduction also highlights brief history of the oscilloscope. There the graphics and symbol section which discusses the various parts of the oscilloscope including; probes, input, time base controls, vertical amplifiers, front panel controls, and the hold off control. In the written analysis and statement, the tests; compliance test, production test and commissioning tests are discussed. Outcome of tests are explained. In this document pictures have been used to create a more realistic image of what an oscilloscope looks like. There is a concluding statement which discusses further the reports from the test and finally giving a concluding recommendation. Other parts of this document include the glossary; a list some terms which preferably user ought to have known, and appendices which include some information which may be of importance to the user of this manual. Introduction An oscilloscope is an electronic instrument or tester which is used in the observation and reading of a constantly varying electrical signals like voltages and current. (Witte, 2002) The observations and the readings are made from a series of potential differences; voltage drops which are displayed in a two dimensional graphs which entails axes y (vertical rise) and x (horizontal change). Electrical signals like sounds always cause a change in electrical potentials over time thus inducing or are conve rted to voltages. The created signals (voltages) are displayed in this graphs; forming a constantly repeated and periodic patterns. Since the signals are often repeated they always appear as a steady picture. In most cases, oscilloscopes have been used to capture sample of non-repeating wave forms. For this to be used to derive a meaningful information, the capture of the wave forms have to be done for some period of time (specified) and be stored to show a steady display of the captured segment. This enhances the exact observation of the wave shape of a signal which is electrically created, for example signals from sound wave. For proper observation, these instruments; oscilloscopes are as a rule calibrated. (Lee,2004) From such calibrated devices, voltages and time can be easily read by human eye with a lot of ease. The calibrations are done in such a way to allow for the measurement of the peak voltages of the wave form under study, frequency of the induced signals, rise time for the full amplitude, time taken between consecutive pulses and the timing of the signals which are related to

Assessment for Learning Essay Example for Free
Assessment for Learning Essay The results of the personal survey of assessment literacy showed that general considerations scored 87/90, prior to test design scored 53/55, writing the test scored 28/30, during test administration scored 15/15, and after testing reflected 25/25. Our school is a small private school with small classroom sizes. As a result, most of our students receive specialized one on one attention and strong supervision for their academic success. Teachers believe every student can and will succeed. It is not an option to do otherwise. ââ¬Å"Teachers must believe that all students can achieve a certain level of academic success, must bring all of their students to believe this of themselves, must accommodate the fact that students learn at different rates by making use of differentiated instruction, and must guide all students toward the attainment of standardsâ⬠(Stiggins, 2005, pg. 326). How we test students need to take into consideration the impact of the learner (Stiggins, 2008). Stiggins (2008) informed teachers to utilize assessments for students by looking at the classroom level of use, the program level of use, and the institutional accountability and policy level of use. Looking at the school survey of assessment literacy will take into account these three types of assessment uses and their importance in generating an accountability system for our school to develop a system that fosters learning for all students. My greatest area of strength in regard to assessment literacy can be found in during test administration (15/15) and after testing (25/25). These were perfect scores and illustrated that studentââ¬â¢s needs were met when considering the testing environment as conducive to maximize student performance and monitoring the students as they take ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING 3 the test. Directions are always clear and questions are rarely asked. Tests are accurately scored because they are reviewed twice. Assessment data is gathered for what questions students answered incorrectly and notes are made for improvement of material taught the following year. It is reviewed again after the results of the test are completed to ensure mastery before moving on to the next chapter. The main goal is always on student achievement and mastery of the material. The data adjusts instruction to improve student performance. Any students who do poorly are given the opportunity to retest for 92% of the grade for improvement and mastery. Parents are notified of any student receiving below an 86%. This is our school policy. Retests are given within a week of the original test. Tests are graded the same day and given back the next day. This enables students to observe what they got wrong and assess ways to improve for the retest or master the material. Assessments are not always tests. Projects, reports, computer uses, etc. are vital ways to assess student learning through a plethora of ways. Gardner (1999) believed that students learn through spatial, linguistic, naturalist, interpersonal, intrapersonal, bodily kinesthetic, logical/mathematical, musical, and existential. Educators should recognize that diversity needs an on-going presence, availability, and active participation in the classroom teaching process (Spasovski, 2010). ââ¬Å"If society wants all students to meet standards, then all students must believe they can meet those standards; they all must be confident enough to be willing to take the risk of tryingâ⬠(Stiggins, 2008, p. 8). My greatest limitation in regard to assessment literacy is working with colleagues to design common assessments. Since we are a small private school, teachers are left ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING 4 with the task of compiling their own assessments. Our principal will supply the assessments created by the publisher in book form or cd rom or teachers can compile their own. None of us work with colleagues to create assessments. We have team meetings that cross teach certain areas that are being studied to enhance learning across disciplines of teaching. However, assessments are each teacherââ¬â¢s responsibility. The Stanford test scores analyze our teaching productivity. Data is analyzed for the incorrect answer. The results address the weakest area of student learning. Teachers are to find solutions to fix them through data and research of proven strategies that work within successful classrooms. According to Creighton (2001), collecting data without purpose is meaningless. Data driven decision making and instructional leadership support one another. By analyzing the data that exist in our schools, student achievement and quality in teaching and learning can improve to assist students to become avid learners. Part 2: Analyzing the Survey Results The survey results of the criteria for the school survey of assessment literacy scored 84/90. Assessment, curriculum, and instruction are balanced in our school. Assessments are aligned to benchmarks, standards, and scaffolding of material over time to foster studentsââ¬â¢ learning. To promote student achievement, assessments are varied and reliable. Communication is accomplished with parents about performance through emails, assessments sent home requiring signatures, progress reports, report cards, and Stanford test scores. Since our students score in the 79-99% ranking of Stanford test scores as a class average, teachers seek solutions through data to ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING 5 improve class average test scores. If any student did poorly, teachers seek ways that will improve student learning. Principals and teachers can learn to maneuver through the statistical data to help create goals and strategies for change and improvement (Creighton, 2001). The schoolââ¬â¢s greatest area of strength in regard to assessment literacy was that data-based decisions about student mastery of standards are made collaboratively by administrators and teachers. By looking at our strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats, teachers can gain insightful information into how they may best serve their diverse studentsââ¬â¢ needs and administrators can find solutions to helping these students achieve an optimal learning experience at school. This creates an opportunity for teachers and administrators to work together to improve student achievement. By understanding our diverse studentsââ¬â¢ needs, teachers and administrators can see the big picture and find viable solutions to problems that arise at their school. This year we have added a resource room to help struggling students with special needs get help from an ESE teacher. Curriculums are modified to accommodate studentââ¬â¢s needs based on any language or learning barriers. The dominant culture of the nation-state should incorporate aspects of their experiences, cultures, and languages, which will enrich the mainstream culture as well as help marginalized groups to experience civic equality and recognition (Gutmann, 2004). Teachers have professional development sessions and team meetings to assess proven methodologies and research to help students learn. ââ¬Å"When teachers support students by treating them with respect and caring about their futures, and encourage students by helping them to succeed, students are more likely ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING 6 to respect and get along with one another; when taught how to be more tolerant of others, students exhibit greater toleranceâ⬠(Gollnick Chinn, 2006). Our school climate is multicultural and is reflected in every aspect of the education at our school. This is imperative if we want our students to compete in a global economy and to ensure learning and equity for all students. The schoolââ¬â¢s greatest limitation in regard to assessment literacy is that not all teachers recognize studentsââ¬â¢ emotional connection to assessment and its results. Also, the formative assessments are not used regularly to tell members precisely where to focus their improvement efforts and how to do it in a timely manner. My students complain that some teachers take a month to grade papers. Parents complain to me that other teachers do not understand their childââ¬â¢s special needs. For instance, I have a student with dysgraphia, dyslexia, and ADHD. For spelling tests, I have found it beneficial to call him up after tests and have him spell the word to me verbally that he got wrong in writing and he often gets it correct. He has transformed from a failing student to an ââ¬Å"Aâ⬠student. I grade his paper immediately after he turns it in and I ask him to spell the words he got wrong to me verbally. When students are failing, teachers need to find viable solutions to increase student learning. No single assessment is capable of answering all these questions to aid a studentââ¬â¢s learning capabilities. A productive, multi-level assessment system is needed to ensure accuracy of all instructional decisions (Stiggins, 2008). Relying heavily on Stanford test scores impedes a studentââ¬â¢s emotional connection to assessment and its results. Instead a wide arrangement of student work should become part of a portfolio to determine the overall ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING 7 success rate of a student. ââ¬Å"If all students are to succeed, they must have continuous access to credible evidence of their own academic success at mastering prescribed achievement standardsâ⬠(Stiggins, 2008, p. 8). Data shows teachers areas that need improvement in teaching, studentââ¬â¢s weaknesses, and how to do better next time. This will enable students to build self-efficacy when teachers help students to see what success looks like through assessment analysis to improve test taking the next time (Stiggins, 2008). This is the reason our school offers a retest at 92% of the grade. This is what Stiggins refers to as replacing the intimidation of accountability as the primary motivator through tests with the promise of academic success for all learners. This type of assessment promotes hope for all students to become successful. We are reminded by Tashik (2010), that an effective performance assessment system requires the complete interplay of several components: 1. Teaching and learning must remain the constant focus of the school. 2. Teams of teachers collaborate on all aspects of instruction and assessment. 3. Staff, department, and grade meetings are regular features of the school week. 4. Scheduling includes blocks of time for teachers to mentor and supervise student progress on the performance assessment tasks. 5. Continual development of new courses and units of study to better engage students in their learning and meet their academic needs. When these key components are intertwined, effective assessments can benefit our students through diversity and it can take the shape of molding into our studentsââ¬â¢ needs. When we look at the classroom level of use, the program level of use, and the ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING 8 institutional accountability and policy level of use, assessments can work together to scaffold student learning for optimal success. In a perfect assessment system, the foundation would comprise of an array of assessments that enable students to learn more through scaffolding and take ownership of his or her learning success (Stiggins, 2004). What is the Difference Between AC and DC :: electricity electric current
What is Current. First off, what is current. Current is expressed in a unit called Amps. Amps are a measurement of how many electrons pass per second. That is to say, a wire with 40 coulombs passing any point in a 2 seconds would be said to have 20 Amps of current (40 Coulombs (a unit of charge given as 6.24x1018 electrons) / time in seconds or in this case, 2 seconds. The Amp is also known as Coulombs per second) Another trick about current is that it is measured in the movement of the positive charge. Literally that is to say the current moves in oppostion to the electrons. This is because originally it was thought that the positive charge is what moved, both are viable, but in reality a positive charge is generally fixed since within an atom the electrons are migratory, while the protons and neutrons tend to be stationary. What is AC/DC? AC and DC literally stand for Alternating Current and Direct Current. Direct Current is very convenient and is used in many modern day utilities. For a circuit with DC the current is constanly in one direction, while the voltage remains constant. This makes for a simplistic circuit, for example a flashlight, The batteries are a source of electrochemical DC power and . However AC is called Alternating Current because the voltage changes from negative to positive a given number of times a second, this is also described as the frequency of the power. An example of this would be a motor ran by a hand crank. The inversing of charges creates a sinusoidal graph which looks something like figure 1 (given in radians). This makes for an unsteady power source and can often times be warped from the sinusoidal shape. So the main difference between AC and DC is the way the energy is transmitted. Why are we using Alternationg Current today? There are a few reason although mainly it was due to the technology of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Nikola Tesla being one of the leading scientists for Alternating Current, created a way to run engines and also convert AC Volts and Amps. He came up with this while he was supposedly in a park in Budhapest. He sat down and drew out the basic diagram of a motor run by a magnetic flux.

Korean American :: essays research papers
ââ¬Å"The Korean Experience in America, 1903 ââ¬â 1924â⬠The Korean experience in America during the years 1903 to 1924 is very unique. When compared to other East Asian immigrants, Korean immigrants were relatively small. Most of them were students and agricultural laborers who emigrated to Hawaii as plantation laborers. Many of them decided to come to America due to constant invasion by Japan and also to earn lot of money. Those immigrants happen to be an important factor on Korean history. During the years 1903ââ¬â1905, 7226 immigrants came to Hawaii. These immigrants hoped to earn enough money in 3 or 4 years and open a business in their homeland. Of the 7,226 immigrants, roughly 6000 were male adults, 600 were women, and 500 children. Just about 60% of them stayed and rest went back to Korea or moved to the continental United States. Within less than a decade, the Korean immigrants found themselves in danger of losing their homeland to Japan. This would mean that they wouldnââ¬â¢t have their own country to go back to. In 1910, Japanese took over Korea. Thatââ¬â¢s when many Korean immigrants started to get involved in the Korean independence movement. After nine years of Japanese Annexation of Korea in 1910, around 540 student were admitted for study at American schools. Most of these students were political refugees so they became an addition to the Korean community. Korean immigrants started to form anti-Japanese programs to free their country. This was a great concern to Japan. Japanese government decided to grant Korean women who were willing to move to America as marriage contracts to calm Korean immigrants from contributing to anti-Japanese programs. This decision didnââ¬â¢t change Korean immigrants from involving in Korean independence movement but made them more desperate to get their country back for their daughters and sons. By the time 1915 ââ¬â 1920, Korean immigrants made enough money to start small business like laundry, barber, restaurant, shoe repair services, and so on. This meant that they were able to donate more to political activities. Korean immigrants built school for their children and churches. Korean immigrants were getting settled in America. They even had Korean newspapers to tell people what was going on with Korea. On the other hand, Korean political activists started to rise to start a movement, like Syngman Rhee, An Chang-ho and Pak Yong-man. These leaders tried to free Korea by trying to attract the attention and support of the American public.

Is Our Constitution Still Relevant?
The United States Constitution is a very important piece of document for the American people and especially immigrants. There are many reasons for this, but the main one is that the Constitution gives freedom to people who enter America. These freedoms are not in many other countries and thatââ¬â¢s why immigrants flee to America to pursue the American Dream. Our Constitution is still relevant today because of two things: Freedom of Speech, and Freedom of Religion. The first reason why the Constitution is relevant is because of freedom of speech the First Amendment of the Bill of Rights. This gives the American people the right to voice their opinion whether itââ¬â¢s good or bad. In some countries, for example China does not allow freedom of speech because they are communists, they have a law saying anyone can protest against the government, as long as they get a permit first, But if you take the risk to get a permit youââ¬â¢re probably going to be shipped off the a ââ¬Å"re- education camp ââ¬Å"this is why our Constitution is relevant.Free speech allows you to say whatever you want without being judged or held against your will by law enforcements. The second reason main reason why the constitution is important is freedom of religion the American people having the right to worship whoever they want even if itââ¬â¢s a dog. People believe in whatever and whoever and it lets them live their life without getting discriminated against by mostly people and/or the government. All in all I believe the Constitution is still relevant today because

How To Do The Best Content Marketing On A Limited Budget
How To Do The Best Content Marketing On A Limited Budget ââ¬Å"Itââ¬â¢s dangerous to go alone.â⬠If youââ¬â¢ve ever played The Legend Of Zelda on the classic 8-bit Nintendo, then youââ¬â¢re probably familiar with this phrase (and if not, please bear with us, because we promise weââ¬â¢re going somewhere with this). For the uninitiated, these are the words Link (the main protagonist) hears from a shopkeeper who grants him his first sword before embarking on a treacherous quest to rescue Princess Zelda. Shortly after, the player is faced with overwhelming challenges, scarce resources, and no single path to victory. Sounds like many of our first journeys into content marketing. In fact, if youââ¬â¢re new toà the content marketing game and working with limited resources, you can probably relate to Link more than you might realize. Squaring off against better-financed competitors across a complex content marketing landscape can often feel like warding off monsters while wandering the desert with little more than your wits. Executing a comprehensive content strategy while under pressure to deliver results without an ideal toolset or a roadmap to victory can be stressful (and less fun than any video game). Fortunately, it s possible to succeed at content marketing on a limited budget. The key is to think like Link by making the most creative and efficient use of what you do have until youââ¬â¢ve got the strength to go toe-to-toe with bigger adversaries. To get there, youââ¬â¢ll need to generate maximum mileage with minimal effort while working smarter instead of harder. The only difference is youââ¬â¢ll be solving business problems instead of puzzles and slaying your competition instead of vicious monsters along the way. Take this guide and letââ¬â¢s begin. Find Your Bearings With A Simple Content Audit If youââ¬â¢re working with an existing website or blog, especially one that has been around for awhile, then your first step is to figure out exactly what content you already have (and how much of it is still useful). Think of it like giving your wardrobe a solid spring cleaning, with boxes for things you'd like to keep, patch up or update, and things to get rid of. An easy way to keep track of your progress is to create a simple spreadsheet. There are a number of ways it can be laid out, but at a basic level, it should list all your URLs, page titles, and the following columns: Keep Consolidate Update Remove Get your very own content audit spreadsheet here via Google Sheets. If youââ¬â¢re working with a large website that has a lot of URLs, a free downloadable tool called Screaming Frog may help speed up this process. This desktop website crawler can be used to quickly generate a list of all the URLs that exist on your domain, which can be helpful for discovering broken links or old pages you might have forgotten about. If youââ¬â¢re short on time, keep in mind that your emphasis here should be on balancing speed with relevancy. Focus on posts or URLs that have the highest relevance to your readers to keep, and those that are objectively outdated or no longer relevant to get rid of. Itââ¬â¢s also important not to burn yourself out while sorting through the URLs on your domain. This is especially true if your site features tens of thousands of pages (which is common with e-commerce websites, in particular). If youââ¬â¢re ready for a more in-depth guide on how to perform a content audit, take a look at this thorough guide from Moz. Recommended Reading: How To Improve Yourà Blog With A Content Audit Play To Your Strengths And Focus On The Right Channels Once youââ¬â¢ve got a clear idea of what (if anything) is already on your blog or website, your next step is to determine which channels youââ¬â¢re going to create fresh content for. Beyond your site and your blog, youââ¬â¢ll also want to consider which social media are best for your needs. You may also want to consider whether other content channels make sense within your overall strategy. Recommended Reading from Neil Patel: The 6 Types Of Social Media Content That Will Give You The Greatest Value With so many different platforms available, itââ¬â¢s easy to start feeling some option paralysis. If time is at a premium, try to focus only on the channels that will both deliver the most impact for your business and that you have time to comfortably invest in. Concentrated efforts in a few areas may yield stronger returns than splitting your attention between more platforms than you can manage. Social Media Tips Choose the right platforms: In most cases, a Facebook page will be essential. Twitter is also a must-have for brands andà bloggers. From there, think carefully about Instagram, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Tumblr, and Google+. If youââ¬â¢re unsure whether you might have a potential audience on a particular platform, see what your competitors or other blogs in your niche are doing. Stay within what you can manage: Overextending yourself by committing to every new social media platform that becomes available can be exhausting. Worse than that, letting any of your channels stagnate can hurt your brand. Donââ¬â¢t give into pressure to chase every new flashy object if you donââ¬â¢t have time to spare. Email Marketing Tips Donââ¬â¢t be boring: How many times have you signed up for a companyââ¬â¢s email newsletter, only to be let down with horrendous formatting or a lack of any visual styling? This bland approach is boring and provides a poor user experience. Low-cost email marketing doesnââ¬â¢t have to mean low quality. Services like MailChimp offer free entry-level accounts and easy-to-use templates that can make putting together professional-looking e-newsletters simple (and if youââ¬â¢re curious how hard hand-coding emails can be, ask any developer). Reuse blog and social content: Cut time off your email content creation process by linking to your social campaigns and teasing your blog posts. Save time building e-newsletters byà repurposing blog content. #email #marketingEstablish A Consistent Posting Schedule While there arenââ¬â¢t many hard and fast rules for how often you should post on any particular channel, itââ¬â¢s important that you keep them all updated on a regular, predictable basis. If your audience knows when to visit your blog for updates, or knows that you post on a particular social media network regularly, theyââ¬â¢re going to be more likely to keep coming back for more of your content. Knowing when youââ¬â¢ll post in advance also helps get more done in less time. Best practices for post frequency vary by market and niche. Butà here are a few general guidelines to follow: Be consistent:à Make sure users can reliably expect new content. Be social:à Follow up on user comments and reply. Be persistent:à Donââ¬â¢t allow social accounts to stagnate. Investing in a tool to manage your post schedule can help you get organized and save a ton of time.à Thatââ¬â¢s exactly what was built for. However, a simple spreadsheet or Google calendar can get you started with schedulingà posts if spending money is out of the question. Work Smarter, Not Harder To Generate Content Ideas Faster Generating ideas for unique and interesting things to write about isnââ¬â¢t easy. However, there are ways to speed up the process while avoiding the time and soul-sucking dread of writerââ¬â¢s block. Monitor Social Media Within Your Topic/Industry What topics are buzzing on Twitter within your industry or niche? What are Facebook fans discussing on your page? Listening in to social media chatter can give you a good idea of what your audience might be interested in reading about, as well as what questions or concerns they may have that you can create content to address. Google AdWords Keyword Planner You know your website and blog content needs to rank in search engines to bring in traffic. Use the Google Adwords Keyword Planner to get an idea of which keywords for your chosen blog or web page topic are generating the most attention. Itââ¬â¢s worth keeping in mind that this tool reports how many times a keyword has triggered a pay-per-click ad on Google, rather than the total number of searches it has received in general. Even still, itââ¬â¢s useful for getting a ballpark idea for which keywords you should target for organic traffic as well. Recommended Reading:à How To Make An SEO Content Strategy That Will Improve Your #1ââ¬â3 Results By 248% Google Trends Creating content that provides an original take on a trending topic is an excellent way to drive traffic to your blog. If you think youââ¬â¢ve got a good idea for a post, or need some assistance coming up with timely posts, try Google Trends. Itââ¬â¢s a useful tool for monitoring how many news headlines have appeared around your chosen keyword, as well as seeing which searches are most popular on Google at the moment. Ubersuggest Before you can deliver content people want to read, it helps to know what theyââ¬â¢re looking for. Ubersuggest is a free tool that generates lists of actual search terms users have typed into Googleââ¬â¢s search bar based on a selected keyword. Do Some Competitive Analysis If you notice a high number of blogs or websites writing about a particular topic, itââ¬â¢s probably because thereââ¬â¢s a lot of reader interest around that subject. Check out what other sources are writing about, identify whatââ¬â¢s popular, and see how you can make your own post unique or more useful. You can do this by digging deeper into the research, including something thatââ¬â¢s missing from other posts, or simply adding your own voice to the conversation. This can help you tap into what your audience wants to read, and drive more traffic by providing a more authoritative resource than your competition. How To Scale Content Creation On A Budget At this point, you know what kinds of content youââ¬â¢re going to create, when itââ¬â¢s going to be created, and where itââ¬â¢s going to be posted. However, without much (if any) assistance, you might quickly find that keeping up with content creation over the long-term can be difficult. But, it doesnââ¬â¢t have to be. By establishing efficient processes, finding ways to reuse content across channels, and maybe enlisting some outside assistance, you can generate more content than you might think. Content Curation If you donââ¬â¢t have much time to create content of your own (and even if you do), then leverage someone elseââ¬â¢s. Now, this doesnââ¬â¢t mean you should go out and steal other peopleââ¬â¢s work. Rather, content curationà simply describes the process of gathering and sharing content around a topic from other sources, and adding your own commentary or insight. Here are a few content curation tips: Share content from authoritative sources. Include your own thoughts and insights. Stick to sharing whatââ¬â¢s relevant to your audience. On a weekly or monthly basis, round up the most interesting posts on your subject or industry and put them into a blog post or email newsletter. You can also reshare content on social media. Make sure you always give credit to the original source. Over time, this approach can position you as a valuable resource to your readers by helping them find the best content on your subject. By cultivating relationships with industry influencers and soliciting guest writers, you can leverage otherââ¬â¢s expertise, build connections in your industry, and generate authoritative content while easing your own workload. Here are twoà ways to find guest bloggers: Is there a blogger youââ¬â¢ve built a strong rapport with over social media? Or, is there a particular writer or subject matter expert out there you particularly respect? Try sending them a message to see if theyââ¬â¢re interested in writing on your blog.Youââ¬â¢ll want to be mindful and not overstep your bounds here, though. For example, if your site doesnââ¬â¢t generate much traffic yet, then itââ¬â¢s unlikely that a high-powered influencer will want to work with you (or at least not yet). Try adapting it for Twitter (and maybe Google+). Just posted something awesome on your blog? Put that in your email newsletter. By finding opportunities to stretch your content across platforms, you can keep your various channels updated efficiently while giving your content maximum exposure. Donââ¬â¢t Skip Out On Visual Content Creating strong graphics for blog and social media postsà can be tough if design isnââ¬â¢t your forte. If that sounds like you (and you donââ¬â¢t have access to a skilled designer), consider these options: Canva Canva is a free web-based service, which allows you to create images using a wide variety of fonts, backgrounds, and templates. It has its limitations, but its capable of producing some surprisingly strong results in relatively little time. Info.gram People love data. Info.gram is great for data pertaining to Instagram. In fact, recent Facebook algorithm updates have started to give more weight to video on that platform. However, pro video equipment is expensive, and not much use without the expertise of a skilled shooter and videographer. There is a solution to this problem, however, and itââ¬â¢s probably in your pocket right now. Your phone. While shooting video on your smartphone wonââ¬â¢t match the quality of whatââ¬â¢s possible with a real camera, it is possible to shoot compelling footage with one in a pinch. Depending on your business, the more raw, unpolished look might even be perceived as more authentic too. If you donââ¬â¢t consider yourself much of a camera person, try following these tips: Fill the whole frame with each shot. Position your subjects slightly to the left or right (rather than right in the middle) of each frame. Consider using a tripod for balance. If you can afford one, try attaching an external microphone for better audio quality. Measure Your Success (And Act On Your Data) Once youââ¬â¢ve got your content machine rolling, youââ¬â¢ll want to measure your results and use that data to help drive better decisions moving forward. If youââ¬â¢re getting a ton of traffic from search engines, then continuing to work on content strategy and search engine optimization is probably smart. Or, if you notice that certain social media channels are driving tons of traffic while others are stagnating, that might be a sign that you should focus on the ones that are succeeding, or alter your strategy on the ones that arenââ¬â¢t. Google Analytics The best content marketing plan in the world doesnââ¬â¢t mean much if you canââ¬â¢t measure the results. Fortunately, one of the best digital marketing analytics platforms happens to be free and fairly easy to set up (at least at a very basic level). While Google Analytics is both free and relatively easy to get started with, itââ¬â¢s also a powerful tool with a lot of advanced functionality. Avoid wasting time drowning in data and analytics by focusing on the following three top KPIs (key performance indicators): Natural/Organic Traffic Bounce Rate Conversion Rate When time is of the essence, these are the most essential metrics to monitor. Cyfe Cyfeà is a freemium custom data dashboard. It connects data from other apps, services, and analytics tools, allowing you to monitor everything in one place. A free account allows for up to five custom widgets, while a paid plan ($19 a month) allows for unlimited data. Between these two tools, you should be more than capable of getting a clear view of how your efforts are performing. Pay Attention To SEO Letââ¬â¢s get one thing out of the way here: search engine optimizationà isnââ¬â¢t dead. You will, however, ignore SEO at your own risk. If You're Looking To Save Time: Use An SEO Platform Thereââ¬â¢s a lot of competition out there for premium SEO software platforms (such as Moz, Raven Tools, and more). If you have enough budget, plans generally start around $99 a month and go up from there for more keywords. These options provide powerful capabilities and will make it easier to get more done faster. Commonà functionality typically includes: Keyword rank tracking Content analysis Inbound link monitoring Browse around to find an option that fits your needs and budget. If You're Looking To Save Money: Use Free SEO Tools Youââ¬â¢re not totally out of luck if that cost is too high. Weââ¬â¢re talking about doing content marketing on a budget here, after all. Premium SEO toolset provider SERPS.com has put together a handy resource of free SEO tools, including a handy rank checking tool and more. Consider this option if budget simply isnââ¬â¢t available. Now Youââ¬â¢re Ready To Do More With Less And Win This might seem like a lot of work. Frankly, thatââ¬â¢s because it is a lot of work (at least until you get your plans and processes in place). Once you get your content marketing flywheel moving, however, you should find youââ¬â¢re able to get more done in less time on a limited budget with some simple planning, prioritizing, and persistence. Best of all, it wonââ¬â¢t cost you much (or possibly anything at all), and you wonââ¬â¢t have to cut (too many) corners to get it all done.

Ecco Market Analysis Research Paper Example
Ecco Market Analysis Research Paper Example Ecco Market Analysis Paper Ecco Market Analysis Paper EXECUTIVE SUMMARY ECCO is a Danish shoemaking and retailing company that was founded by Karl Toosbuy in Bredebro, Denmark in 1963. The companyââ¬â¢s vision is to be the ââ¬Ëmost wanted brand within innovation and comfort footwearââ¬â¢ ââ¬â which they intend to attain by constantly and courageously researching new paths, investing in employees, in core competencies of product development and production technology. While trends in the market with regards to fashion and elegance are deemed important, usability has been ECCOââ¬â¢s highest design priority. By 2004, ECCO had its main markets in the US, Germany and Japan and worked constantly on creation of new markets with emphasis on regions like Asia, Central and Eastern Europe. The financial ownership was kept within the company and ECCO refrained from issuing Initial Public Offerings despite financial constraints in the beginning of the 21st century as the company believed that that would inhibit their risk taking abilities. ECCOââ¬â¢s production strategy has been unique in that 80% of the production was in-house. The company regarded their ââ¬Ëdirect injectedââ¬â¢ technology as a key asset and believed it gave them an edge over the competitors. A decade of more than satisfactory growth later, ECCO ventured towards internationalizing its operations by establishing its upper production unit in Brazil in 1974. Since then, the chief drivers of internationalization have been i) creation of new markets ii) leveraging the relatively cheap cost of labour. By May 2004, ECCO was finalizing its plans to set up production in China. The Report has covered Situational Analysis for ECCOââ¬â¢s present day operations and market presence. It has covered Competitor Analysis taking into account its main rivals in the international market. The report also contains valuable recommendations for future growth strategies. TABLE OF CONTENTS EXECUTIVE SUMMARY1 SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS:3 Products and Markets:4 The Global Value Chain4 Advantages of the Global Value Chain6 Drawbacks of the Global Value Chain6 Competitor Analysis6 RECOMMENDATIONS7 SITUATIONAL ANALYSIS: The internationalization program was taken up to optimize various activities associated with the value chain. Having already established operations in Portugal, Slovakia, Indonesia, Thailand ECCO was gearing up to set up shop in China as part of the internationalization of the value chain. By doing so it intended to utilize the cheap labour costs, use China as a launching pad to export finished goods to the market the world over. ECCO had one tannery located in Netherlands, and two others next to factories in Indonesia and Thailand. While the complete ownership of tanneries meant ECCO could exercise sufficient quality control over the leather used, it also means added overheads and incurring maintenance costs. Products and Markets: The ECCO group produces footwear for men, ladies and children in the casual, outdoor and semi-sport shoes categories for two different seasons ââ¬â spring/ summer and autumn/winter. The distribution of sales in 2004 across the categories was as follows. Bulk of the share fell to ladies at 47%, followed by men at 30% and 11% and 12% for children and sport respectively. The year also saw the ECCO group introducing the range of golf shoes which was met with outstanding success as market research showed the brand being preferred by more than 90% of the golfers. The chief markets for ECCO were the US, Germany and Japan, accounting for more than 90% of the exports. The US remained the most important market with the shoes selling for a high price. The US market accounted for 26% of the total sales in 2004. The Global Value Chain Inbound Logistics ECCO retained a close control of the entire value chain right from procuring the leather to packaging of the shoes. ECCO had one tannery located in Netherlands, and two others next to factories in Indonesia and Thailand. The Netherlands facility handled prototyping, laboratory and ramp-up production f leather, while those in Indonesia and Thailand performed full-scale production of leather. These tanneries supplied leather to all the production units across the world. The bulk of the raw hides originated from Germany, France, Denmark and Finland. ECCOââ¬â¢s production strategy was well-differentiated from its competitors in that ECCO handled 80% of the production of shoes on its own (which was in k eeping with its focus of close control) whereas most of its competitors had outsourced most of the production, concentrating more on design and marketing of their products instead. The company employed a technology that they termed ââ¬Ëdirect injection technologyââ¬â¢ which accounted for 80% of the total production. Because it was hard to imitate and gave them a competitive edge, the company was averse to outsource production. The remaining 20% was outsourced as these did not benefit from the direct injection method. ECCO began internationalizing operations in 1974 since it established an upper production unit in Brazil. Portugal ECCO set up its first full-scale production unit in Portugal in 1984. Initially Portugal had a significant share in both production of the uppers and shoe assembly. However, with rising labour costs, the numbers came down, as production shifted to Indonesia and Thailand. ECCO consequently reduced the number of employees and invested into technology to make the unit more high-tech. Indonesia Opened in 1991, the Indonesian production unit handled shoe uppers, accounting for 40 to 50 per cent of the demand. A distinct drawback was that obtaining raw material could take up to eight weeks and shipping the finished goods to the distribution centres upto five weeks. Thailand The Thai unit encompassed both tannery and assembling operations. This unit was a success story in terms of output, employee satisfaction and size. Employee turnover was low and the number increased progressively every year. Also, ECCO discovered that the Thais were good at observing minute details and exhibited high level of skill. Consequently, ECCO focussed production of golf and advanced trekking boots here. Slovakia Set up in 1998, the unit in Slovakia was mainly concerned with assembly and to a smaller degree, shoe uppers. In addition to providing lower cost labour, the unit had the advantage of being located close to the important markets of Poland and Russia. The facility would act as a backup to possible political upheavals in Asia and mitigate the uncertainties arising from unforeseen interruptions. China Although not established by 2004, production facilities had been finalized and planned to be set up in China. ECCO had chosen a site at Xiamen, just North of Guangdong which was supposedly a small yet vibrant community which showed promise and potential. Full scale units supported by an advanced tannery was what ECCO had planned for. The units would serve exports as well as cater to the local markets. Why ECCO should start production in China: * China had recently gained entry into the WTO which allowed for 100% foreign ownership of operations. This was in keeping with their core focus of in-house production and would still allow ECCO to leverage cheap and efficient labour * Chinese markets were growing steadily. Close proximity to the huge market would boost revenues while reducing distribution costs. * It could leverage the established partnership with Aibu and by enhancing the network approach could win the loyalty of Chinese customers. Possible pitfalls and challenges: There was no shortage of local manufacturers trying to copy the ECCO design. ECCO would have to constantly monitor the market scene and spend money on attorneys and litigation to ensure its design is protected against imitation. * Traditionally, ECCO had not spent much on marketing its products. However, to gain share in the competitive Chinese market it would have to aggressively market its brand to carve a nic he for itself. * Since ECCO would be partnering with Aibu for establishing market presence, Aibu would be in a position to wield a certain degree of bargaining power. Advantages of the Global Value Chain Complete ownership of the tanneries enables ECCO to exert stringent quality control on the leather to be used for the shoes. * The tanneries in Netherlands being an important research centre as well, allows access to quality expertise and technical know-how about tanning. * Also, the research facility allows ECCO to explore less polluting tanning processes which would safeguard it against future laws that might restrict polluting practices. * Held-close-to-chest technology and in-house production has given ECCO the competitive edge and allowed huge market share especially for golf shoes. Globalized operations have allowed ECCO to leverage reduced labour costs and proximity to promising markets. * Internationalization has also allowed ECCO to mitigate risk of production interruptions . Drawbacks of the Global Value Chain * ECCO has traditionally not been big on marketing its products, while the competitors thrive on a model driven by marketing. With the changing world environment, this could be risky. * With operations and procurement spread to different parts in the world it takes time to complete the manufacturing process. This leads to an increase in the time to market and could cause depletion in market share. * Bulk of the finished goods are distributed through Denmark, while Denmark accounts for only 6 to 9 % of the sales. Thus the overall cost of distribution would go up. Competitor Analysis Geox Geox owed its success to the perforated rubber soles that included a special waterproof membrane that allowed the moisture to vaporize yet preventing water from entering the shoe. The technology was different from that of ECCOââ¬â¢s and as such allowed Geox its own market share. The production is a mix of in-house and out-sourced while that for ECCOââ¬â¢s is mostly in-house. While the sales were mostly in Italy for Geox, it was increasingly registering growth in the international market. ECCO had a market share of US$ 115 million while the figures for Geox were US$14 million. However, ECCO had only posted a growth of 4. 5 per cent while Geox showed a growth of 250 per cent. Also Geox has decided to lessen its risks by venturing into apparel market. Clarks Clarks was the biggest player in the casual footwear category and displayed a better growth rate than ECCO in 2004 (10. % v/s 4. 5%). Established much earlier than ECCO, Clarks quickly became a global player. Clarks relies heavily on out-sourced production which gives it access to a variety of technologies. However, unlike ECCO, controlling quality of products and material is a significant task for Clarks. Also, this lends a lot of bargaining power to the suppliers. This also implies that Clarks has a pr edominantly marketing based business model as opposed to ECCO that relies chiefly on production of quality goods. Timberland Timberland was a late entrant in the international market. However, with products as diverse as clothing and accessories, Timberland, in 2003, was twice the size of ECCO in terms of product sales. Unlike ECCO, Timberlandââ¬â¢s focus is on marketing and has outsourced most of its production. This has led to Timberland having ceded a lot of bargaining power to the suppliers. It lost a lot of margin to the suppliers in the process and was forced to negotiate constantly with the suppliers to achieve normalcy in the cost of goods. RECOMMENDATIONS ECCO has to improve its focus on marketing as well as on branding as with the changing business landscape, it cannot rely solely on the quality of goods especially when international competition is so fierce * Since US is the most lucrative market, ECCO should consider opening up operations in Mexico as the region is close to the US; this would help reduce shipping costs as well as time to market. * ECCO should also look into diversifying into selling accessories and clothing which its competitors have already announced their arrival in.

Loves Parallel Universe
Loves Parallel Universe Free Online Research Papers Loveââ¬â¢s Parallel Universe: a study of Szymborskaââ¬â¢s The Onion and Nerudaââ¬â¢s Leaning into the Afternoons Love has many paradoxical dimensions. It is simple yet complex, glorified yet vilified, powerful yet weak, constructive yet disastrous. Each one of us has experienced love in some way or the other and has attained our own slant on it. Pablo Neruda and Wislawa Szymborska have expressed some of its dimensions in their love poems. To look at this in depth, I will compare and contrast two poems; Leaning into the Afternoons by Pablo Neruda and The Onion by Wislawa Szymborska. The poem, Leaning into the Afternoon, is a spontaneous outpouring of Nerudaââ¬â¢s melancholic emotions at being separated from his beloved whom he describes through magnificent oceanic and natural imagery. His unbearable sense of loss is reflected in phrases such as, ââ¬Å"absent eyesâ⬠and ââ¬Å"distant femaleâ⬠that clearly indicate to the readers that his love is lost in the ocean of time. On the other hand, The Onion is a description of love through an extended metaphor of an onion. Szymborska relates a mundane and malodorous vegetable to something as gloriously fragrant as love. Unlike Nerudaââ¬â¢s, this poem is hardly private passion of the poet but is more of a panoramic view of love. Although on a quick appraisal the two poems appear to be poles apart yet on deeper analysis one realises that whatever she believes about love seems to have been lived by Neruda. One could even say that Szymborskaââ¬â¢s poem is a theoretical description while Nerudaââ¬â¢s is the practical application of certain bitter aspects of love. In fact the meeting ground of the two poems is that love has been portrayed as selfish. Just as the onion doesnââ¬â¢t care whether the humansââ¬â¢ lachrymal glands are stimulated while cutting it, love doesnââ¬â¢t care either of whom it hurts. Lovers are encapsulated in their own bubble universe and seem to float in their own ideal but selfish world. A similar thread runs through another one of Wislawa Szymborskaââ¬â¢s works, True Love. She feels that love consumes the lives of the lovers making them shun the people and the world milling around them. Neruda has similar views on the issue. In other poems like The Morning is Full or So That youââ¬â¢ll Hear Me he depicts love that overwhelms and overpowers senses. In Leaning into the afternoon his love spiralled out of his control and he, like a desperate, drowning man, flounders for love. He says, ââ¬Å"my solitude its arms turning like a drowning manââ¬â¢s.â⬠And later complains that the ââ¬Å"night gallopsâ⬠. The reader gets the feeling that either the love is surging in a turbulent torrent or is like an uncontrollable and defiant runaway horse. This all-consuming and uncaring love is almost comparable to a wrathful Pagan God whose absolute power and frequent wrath lashes his loyal followers. He is not dependent on others and most importantly, he follows his own authority without any remorse or regret. The onion, too, is ââ¬Å"oniony on the inside onionesque it appears it follows its own daimonion without our human tearsâ⬠. Love cannot be explained by scientific dimensions and philosophical theories. It has no substance and yet it is full of its own importance. It defies all rationale quite like the onion. ââ¬Å"The onion, now thats something else its innards dont exist nothing but pure onionhoodâ⬠If an onion is peeled it doesnââ¬â¢t lose its worth for there is another onion inside. It still has its ââ¬Ëonionesqueââ¬â¢- its still layered, coloured, pungent, and still an onion. Inside it, thereââ¬â¢s a smaller one of undiminished worth.â⬠Love also exists in layers, each layer complete in itself and if shared only multiplies. After we finish peeling the onion the smell lingers on the hands- pungent and persistent. Similarly even if the lover is shunned, love lingers. ââ¬Å"your absent eyes that move like the seaâ⬠Nerudaââ¬â¢s love loses neither its volume nor its depth despite her absence. It is whole and it is what it is. There are strings attached and yet if they snap and lovers suffer, love the almighty emotion, albeit in a different heart. Onions are the same. They have no real core. If you peel them, they are the same thing again. The layers are the onion and the onion is the layers. Szymborska likens the onion to a volcano- hollow yet potent. ââ¬Å"an internal inferno the anathema of anatomy in an onion theres only onion from its top to its toeâ⬠Neruda has felt the same about love ââ¬Å"There in the highest blaze my solitude lengthens and flames,â⬠One could also look at his repetitiveness from a different angle. There is a repetitive sullenness to Nerudas love. Unlike Szymborskaââ¬â¢s tongue in cheek and indirect appraisal, he is stuck in his private and gloomy cocoon. His repetitive attempts to harness an elusive love can be seen in ââ¬Å"Leaning into the afternoons I cast my sad nets towards your oceanic eyes.â⬠And again in ââ¬Å"Leaning into the afternoons I fling my sad nets to that sea that beats on your marine eyes.â⬠The reason for this lies in the last line. For Neruda the nature and life itself is connected to beloved. He cannot be the disinterested observer like Szymborska and cannot condone her view that the pain of love is part of the deal and might just be the beauty of it as an onion is just not an onion without causing the tears. From their divergent standpoints emerges a contrast in the writing style of both the poets. Wislawa Szymborska has very unique style of coining words. To give the poem a rhythmic texture, she uses her ââ¬Å"neologisticâ⬠skills to reframe words such as anonymous into ââ¬Å"onionymousâ⬠. These coined words are in cadence with the theme of poem; relating an onion to love. The repetitive use of vowels in combination with the letter ââ¬Ënââ¬â¢ also adds melody and rhythm besides being a kind of an echo of ââ¬Ëonionââ¬â¢. ââ¬Å"nothing but pure onionhood fills this devout onionist oniony on the inside onionesque it appears it follows its own daimonion onionymous monomania unanimous omninudityâ⬠On the contrary, with the exception of the last two couplets of Nerudaââ¬â¢s poem, the language used is prosaic and ordinary. The marine metaphor is also an over-exploited one in Neruda. The ââ¬Ëlighthouseââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ësignalsââ¬â¢ and ââ¬Ënetââ¬â¢ are not just uninspiring but have been read in other love songs of his. The beauty however emerges when he creates a relation of time with his solitude. During the ââ¬Å"highest blazeâ⬠the afternoon sun, his loneliness and his pain is also at its apex. But as night approaches in the last few lines, the anguish is reflected through serene images. Although he continues to express his pain by using distressing words such as ââ¬Å"shadowyâ⬠and ââ¬Å"blue tasselsâ⬠the hot blaze turns into star light and shadows. His love moves from body to soul ââ¬Å"The birds of night peck at the first stars that flash like my soul when I love you. The night gallops in its shadowy mare shedding blue tassels over landâ⬠Furthermore, Szymborskaââ¬â¢s poem flows on as it is not limited by the brevity of being a sonnet like Nerudaââ¬â¢s is. She has used short stanzas each of which explain a unique similarity between an onion and love. She also has a tendency to explain in detail of what she wants to convey whereas with Neruda the reader has to guess the context. For example, in the third stanza she explains that the onion is made of layers and layers of itself and contains nothing more. And when peeled or cut, its worth is not mitigated. In doing so she uses redundant phrases such as ââ¬Å"the second holds the third one and the third contains a fourthâ⬠. There is a tendency to drive home a point. But, this is what differentiates her from Neruda. She doesnââ¬â¢t want to leave it open for interpretation and wants the readers to think and understand the poem the way she does. This is very unlike Neruda. He just merely hints and lets the readersââ¬â¢ minds interpret and lets them play wit h the perspectives of the ideas. Interestingly Neruda too has written a poem titled ââ¬Å"Ode to an Onionâ⬠where the beauty of the onion is described lyrically and even compared to Aphroditeââ¬â¢s and yet Neruda does not sublimate it as does Szymborska. The latter has immortalized onion by relating it to love but for Neruda the destiny of the onion is limited to be ââ¬Å"Upon the table of the poorâ⬠. Neruda does not give it the potency of love or volcano; in fact he seems to be thanking onion saying that ââ¬Å"You make us cry without hurting us.â⬠For Neruda only love has the power to hurt and that is because it is out of the control of mere mortals and follows its own authority. Both poems are beautifully written and present, and depict the authorsââ¬â¢ views on love. They are distinctive in that Neruda expresses painful yet more commonly experienced aspects of love, while Szymborska talks about the pain of love in her own inimitable style wherein nothing is held sacred- not even love. But she does make us realise that try as we might we have no authority over the volcanic power of love. Neruda, who seems to have been there and done it, upholds what she seems to be theorizing about. We no longer wonder whether love follows its daimonion or not. If the two poets are to be believed the answer is ââ¬Å"yes it doesâ⬠. Critical Thinking Exposition - Essay Example Critical Thinking Exposition Essay Another viewpoint is that of Deshler who saw it as a form of thinking that welcomes change. Although the above definitions vary depending on the scholarââ¬â¢s orientation, in much more simple terms it can be conceptualized as a deliberate, self-disciplined and self-guided thinking process which encourages quality reasoning at the highest possible level. Critical thinking is a process that should have many definitions because it has multiple dimensions and aspects that characterize its nature as demonstrated by Brookfield. There is no doubt that it is a higher cognitive skill that drives people to use reason to overcome their environment. Admittedly, critical thinking is not automatic and because it is a deliberate effort to diminish the propensity for shallow thought that feeds the ego. Therefore, individuals who are critical thinkers are extremely self disciplined in the use of intellectual tools developed by scholars, researchers and theorists. They use these tools to adapt, alter and apply concepts and principles that guide their actions and which form their beliefs. Critical thinking is extremely self-reflective in its discipline because people are not perfect and they often fall prey to irrational thought, self interest, biases, prejudice and distortions. Therefore, in agreement with Brookfield, it involves defining assumptions and challenging any flaws and gaps in knowledge.

The report on SLA Ltd Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
The report on SLA Ltd - Essay Example The comparison would help in assessing the performance of the company within the two periods and would help in pin-pointing the areas which need proper attention from SBLââ¬â¢s management. Following the analysis of SBLââ¬â¢s financial performance and after addressing the problems face by SBL, a detailed plan of action would be recommended along with a formal conclusion that would augment the entire appraisal of the companyââ¬â¢s performance The positives for SBL An independent review carried out by members of our company (Drake Management Consultants) reflected that SBLââ¬â¢s financial problems have improved in the recent ending year as compared to the prior year, with respect to profitability. The company improved on its profitability and this was assessed by using the profitability ratios. The main aim of profitability ratios is to analyse the efficiency of a companyââ¬â¢s operations and the policies that the company has abided by in order to achieve the recent finan cial performance displayed within the financial statements. As per the profitability ratios, the performance of SBL has been exquisite. The profitability ratios clearly suggest that the company has improved their profit figure as compared to the year preceding the recently ended year. ... SBL has also restricted and brought down their operating expenses with their revenue increasing. The operating expenses as a percentage of sales have been 31.5% (Year before last) and 27.6% (Last year) (Tyran, 1993). SBLââ¬â¢s return on its investment i.e. the profit that it has been able to generate from its assets has been seeing improving results when comparing the two years. SBLââ¬â¢s return on equity has also improved by more than double to what it was in the year before last. Now this is something that can be used to persuade investors towards investing money within the company. The profitability improvements should also be considered something fruitful for the companyââ¬â¢s current owners and its employees as a sign of growth and as an indication of growth for the company. The other positive aspect for SBL is it improved Interest Cover ratio. The company has improved on its ability to pay off its interest and that too can be attributed to the improved profits that the company has been able to generate in the recent years (Financial Management, 2000). Problems faced by SBL After appraising the positives for SBL, a general evaluation of the problems faced by the company was carried out. The company has been found to be lagging behind when assessing its liquidity ratios in the two prior years. This deterioration is alarming for the company since it can lead the company towards bankruptcy. Besides the liquidity issue, the financial leverage for SBL is yet another issue which is rather agonizing for the company. As per the financial leverage ratios, SBL has gotten itself a heavy load of debt finance in order to run the
Fashion - critical and cultural studies Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words
Fashion - critical and cultural studies - Essay Example The essay "Fashion - critical and cultural studies" concerns the feminine fashion. The durability and versatility of the corset as a defining garment is almost as astonishing as its continuing appeal. Even after it lost its widespread popularity, the continued use of the corset in Hollywood depictions of the feminine preserved its use, established its historic connotations and illustrated how it symbolized something larger than itself. Contemporary fashion has given the corset a new lease on life as women continue to turn to this garment as a means of identification within the modern world. Although the corset has traditionally been viewed as a symbol of female submission, any intrinsic meaning is subject to wide interpretation. ââ¬Å"What the immediate meaning usually comes from is available imagery, past or present, the suggestive pictures that have pervaded public consciousness and are loaded with shared associationsâ⬠. The tight-lacing of the 17th and 18th centuries indicat e the degree to which the corset was considered a means of female sexual expression and define ideas of female beauty. Understanding how the corset has been used in Hollywood, revitalized in cult fashions and re-introduced in high fashion illustrates how it can operate to convey female submission and aggressive sexuality depending upon the internal and external factors at play in its design and use within modern fashion. Hollywood and the big name movie producers have employed the corset in any number of ways from the beginning of the industry. The corset was already used in everyday dress when ââ¬ËHollywoodââ¬â¢ emerged and it was already a strategic garment in Vaudeville and Broadway. Even then, women craved the fashions they saw on stage depending upon the persona of the actress and the intentions of the wearer. Broadway and Vaudeville star Anna Held is the first great example of the corset as a defining garment of the female character. Most of her fame was not attributed t o her singing voice, but rather to ââ¬Å"her rolling eyes, eighteen inch waist and naughty songsâ⬠. As is shown in Figure 1, Held continued the practice of tight-lacing in order to portray an enticing, sexually appealing woman with a tiny waist and accented upper features.

MOD 2 ETH501 - Business Ethics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
MOD 2 ETH501 - Business Ethics - Essay Example The heart pacemakers were made because several people were in need of the equipment. The pacemakers helped people in maintaining proper heart beat rate to avoid deaths (Shanks, 1996). Although some people died out of incompetency of certain doctors while installing the gadgets, the risks and negative consequences were minimized. The pacemaker company maximized on the good it offered to its client, helping avoid deaths because of inability of the heart to beat. The deaths that occurred because of the lack of pacemakers were more than deaths due to the challenges of installing the pacemakers. This exemplified the need to maximize the greater good of pacemaker business while minimizing on the dangers faced. Saving human life is better than the financial gains that the transistor manufacturing company is against (Shanks, 1996). Utilitarian ethics is demonstrated by the transistor manufacturing board when they accepted to supply the heart pacemakers with the transistors they needed becaus e of a responsibility and duty to protect the rights of individuals in need of the pacemakers. Further, the board ensured that they minimized the negative implications of the business so that they balanced their trust responsibility to the company (Melvin, 2005). They did the right thing with maximum good in supplying the transistors to save lives and developed appropriate technical as well as testing standards to hold the pacemaker company against in an effort to minimize the harm. They reduced harm in the business and maximized on the utility while accomplishing the common good and protecting rights of people (Shanks, n.d.). What Jeremy Bentham, the father of utilitarianism, would have said about the Case Bentham would have argued that the board agreeing to supply the company making pacemakers was based on utilitarian business ethics because it satisfied human nature by avoiding pain that patients would undergo without pacemakers (Jones, 2005). In addition, he would have asserted that the appropriate action on the case would be for the transistor company to supply the other company as it was the right action based on the principle of utility. The good effects in the case involved supplying the transistors with a commitment to improving the testing and technical standards to balance the good and bad effects. This was a much better alternative than declining to supply the transistors to the pacemakers (Driver, 2009). Letting the pacemaker company not to run out of business by supplying the transistors was an instance of utilitarianism because it was a consideration of the good of all the involved parties without any partiality. How Bentham's suggestion that "We seek pleasure and the avoidance of pain..." might apply The board of the transistor making company demonstrated ââ¬Ëseeking pleasure and avoiding painââ¬â¢ when it initially declined that it would not supply transistors to pacemakers because it would face legal suits and challenges. The absence of appropriate standards by the pacemakers to measure their electronics would cause pain to the transistor company. The business deal would cause pain to the transistor company, and the board initially opts out of the deal. This would have not been proper for the welfare of the involved stakeholders (Shaw, 2011). In addition, all the other transistor making companies that pulled out of business with the pacemakers were avoiding pain in their business pursuit by trying to

Gender and Sexuality, Race and Ethnicity Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Gender and Sexuality, Race and Ethnicity - Essay Example Discrimination at the place of work has worked against women's rights for so long as men continue to monopolize the opportunities. Women have found their position through the provisions of law, to actively engage in serious studies and assume the positions of power in order to champion for the rights of those underprivileged women. The law provides that, under the Act 23 of the Universal Declaration, without discrimination, women have the equal right to equal work and equal pay. Through the platform of empowering from fellow successful women, those who are disadvantaged have taken this advantage to claim their right. By doing so, women have worked against the traditional perception of the masculine society that sees women as not able to assume some positions and not others in a working environment.Women have risen to command the Human Resource positions and avert that notion like in industrialized countries, where women have to bear with a salary that comes with their positions. Agai n, in these commanding positions, either as managers or human resource managers in a company, the voice of women in providing the same platform as men in promotional terms, bridges the gap of discrimination. As a result, todayââ¬â¢s women find it easy to choose the kind of work they would feel like doing contrary to the cultural mentalities or educational discrimination. The current global woman lives in a society that would respond to her needs of learning and earn a job, of whichever position, away from the housekeeping bondage.
Diversity in America Essay Example for Free
Diversity in America Essay In an ideal world, humanity would understand that all mankind is created equally; that the underlying truth of each of us is goodness, and that through awareness, conscious choice and the willingness to create positive change, we could live in a world where diversity is celebrated. We would leave behind the substantial racist and oppressing patterns that exits in this world, specifically in the United States of America. It is said that the U. S. is a melting pot of cultures, and that we are a country of immigrants existing together as a new culture, living under the values of a democracy based on freedom, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Yet this policy is completely disregarding the fact that as immigrants, we brutally committed genocide to the Native Americans. The dominant race in the U. S. A. is made up of white Euro-centric people, and looking at the patterns that exist in this culture is important to examine the history, the ways in which racism is alive and how and who is affected. We all must look at how, as an individual and within a community, we can work towards positive change, healing and understanding. As a society, we have committed and perpetuated the oppression of different cultures specifically the Native Americans, the Native Africans and the many immigrants from different countries. In the early history of the U. S. government, it is clear that there was a systematic method that aimed to remove the Native Americans from the land that was desired by the colonists, with the malicious intention to commit genocide. The first example of the patterns of racism that were established is seen in the fabrication of stereotypes onto the Native Americans. It was said that the Natives were ââ¬Å"barbariansâ⬠and that they would rape and murder women and children and that they ââ¬Å"served the devilâ⬠(Tataki, 1993, p. 41). The whites held the belief that the Natives were occupying land that the colonists felt entitled to. ââ¬Å"White people also justified the genocide by saying that Native Americans died from diseases they were biologically unable to resistâ⬠(Kivel, 2002, p.126). It is a known fact that smallpox were given to the Natives as a way to kill them. Multiple examples exist throughout the history of the whites murdering, raping and unjustly exploiting almost every aspect of the Nativeââ¬â¢s culture. After committing such horrendous violations we are left with the inability to change all that has occurred and a great sadness that produces guilt, blame and anger that often stagnates a healing process and increases denial and avoidance. The Native American population has almost completely been destroyed. ââ¬Å"At the time Columbus arrived in the West Indies there were approximately fifteen million indigenous peopleâ⬠¦ todayâ⬠¦ the population of native Americans in the United States is around three million according to U. S. government census figuresâ⬠(Kivel, 2002, p. 124) and the remaining Natives in America are mostly confined to reservations. This small fraction of designated land is no longer their original sacred land but it is being raped for natural resources. White settlers not only committed genocide but they also enslaved the Native Americans. This pattern of entitlement and abuse was continued with the legal capturing and enslavement of people of African decent with as much violence and oppression. The history of slavery in the United States that occurred through 1619 to 1865 began soon after the English colonists first settled in Virginia and lasted until the passage of the thirteenth Amendment to the U. S. Constitution. ââ¬Å"Over the next twenty five years Virginia passed a series of laws that legalized slavery, producing a radically subordinate and stigmatized class below that of all whitesâ⬠(Kivel, 2002, p.130). Although technically slavery was abolished in1865, a linage of abuse and inhumane treatment was installed and has been carried into this day and age providing a challenge to accept and comprehend the past. In an attempt in understanding black oppression, there are aspects that demonstrate this injustice. They are institutional racism, racist knowledge and power relations that are played out in our culture and in no way have anything to do biology. Individuals and societies have created and used race as a means to oppress and overpower other groups of people. Racial oppression is when a group of people dominates another for their own benefit disregarding justice and respect through the use of violence and defining and discriminating racial differences. This dominant group receives various benefits although in the larger picture all sides loose for the continuation of a pattern of pain and injustice is insured through these actions. African-Americans are a case of this racial oppression. They were turned into slaves because of the color of their skin. It is shocking that it did not start this way and that through the power of the U. S.government slavery laws were passed that enabled the white masters to turn the blacks into slaves. This is an example of the institutional racism used to enslave the blacks. Because of this occurrence, we, as a society, must break down the residual stereotypes that have instilled fear, pain and disconnection between the races, and to change the model that exists even at this point in time. Another example of racism in the U. S. is seen in the treatment of immigrants. This subject is personal, for on my fatherââ¬â¢s side of my family I am part of the first generation born in American. My fatherââ¬â¢s parents immigrated to the U. S. , to escape the holocaust and I am sure shared the dreams of the majority of different immigrants who traveled to the ââ¬Å"land of opportunity,â⬠escaping places of war and economic devastation to begin and pursue a new and better life. Through the duration of attending a class studying the diversity in America I have gained painful yet poignant knowledge of the racism that is still perpetrated upon immigrants, specifically on Jewish people. I have recently learned that groups of neo-Nazis congregate and commit acts of violence against Jewish people and immigrating races. This is terrifying to me and feels unacceptable while we live under a constitution that allows personal expression but does not permit such distinct racist and violent behavior. I am grateful and saddened that because I was raised in a protected and privileged community I have rarely experienced oppression and hateful discrimination when it so readily exists in our culture. In the past few months I find myself cycling through heartbreak, anger and disbelief of the injustice that has and still occurs, and then to a yearning for healing and equality for all. I remain in a space of wonderment, questioning the fact that although laws have been installed to prevent the acts of racism, fear, ignorance and violence is bubbling hot under the surface of our society, and we are a long way from a complete shift in humanity that I crave. I do believe there is hope. I believe that in gaining the truth of the past and diminishing ignorance of the harm that was and still is being done we open a door that may aid in the battles that are still being fought. Although the brutality of racism is alive, the potential to fight for the rights of all the people who live upon this American soil is possible, but the truth of the history and the attainment of awareness must be brought to fruition. Prime TV, New Zealand Strategies for Customer Attention
Prime TV, New Zealand Strategies for Customer Attention introduction to media studies PART 1 Introduction Prime TV is one of the oldest news channels in New Zealand that has managed to gain a large customer share in the market. A lot of people get information and entertainment from this channels and the most important fact is that it has become so popular that today it is the ââ¬Å"word of mouthâ⬠in the whole world. The following paper explains the strategies used by Prime to grab and retain customer attention. Question 1: The introductory title, music, graphics and images of the news are all designed in such a way that they tend to grasp the attention of the users. A strategy used by Prime to do this is to portray real pictures or real life experiences of people. This means that Prime is always interested in hearing from people what they saw or what they felt about a particular instance and then portraying the same thing to other users. Similarly, with regards to the graphics and visionary effects created by Prime, it is clearly visible that they are distinctive and attracting so that they can convince people to watch them. This holds true for all sorts of dramas, news, reality shows and other sport related programs. The example shows the use of distinctive graphics, catchy colors and striking illustration to grab viewerââ¬â¢s attention. Question 2: The number, appearance and style of the presenters are also designed in a unique way. Apart from the graphical and visual effects of news, Prime has also focused on the efficient way in which the presenters deliver those news to the users. The style, appearance and number of the presenters portraying the news have been designed in such a way that could give more authenticity, credibility and reliability to the news. This makes Prime more prominent than other similar channels in the same capacity. The major presenters are Eric Young, Alistair Wilkinson and Charlotte Bellis. All of them are from highly professional journalism backgrounds and then expression, their style of speaking, their postures, their gestures and their tone are all good enough to convince people to watch the news. Thus, it can be said that the strength of Prime is multidimensional. On the one hand, the news are designed in a perfect way to capture attention and on the other hand, the presenters have an excellent tone and expression. Both of these factors collectively add to the success of Prime and maintain its strong position among other competitor TV channels. Question 3: The language, vocabulary and general discourse used to describe various news events is highly distinguishable and unique. The headlines of the news are written in such a way that they grab readerââ¬â¢s attention instead of describing a general abstract which is already known to the public. This can be illustrated by using an example of news from TV3: ââ¬Å"Silent Leadership channel coming upâ⬠This news creates some sort of curiosity and suspense among the readers and convinces them to click on and read the actual news. In the original description, TV 3 has used highly professional vocabulary and expression to portray what is expected to be the future of leadership. For example: the author of the news says that the aim is to change the present attitudes towards those people who are hearing impaired. After describing why it needs to be done, the news promoted a general discourse in such a way that by the end of this news description, the reader is convinced to change his mind towards charity. This means that the TV 3 or Prime news are designed in such a way that they become different and catchy in the beginning and descriptive and convincing in the end. Question 4: Sometimes, the viewers agree to the assumptions made by the news programs and thus, it can be said that these news programs are quite convincing for the people. An important factor that is used to convince people is appeals. There can be appeals to logic, appeals to character, and appeals to reasoning, emotions and so on and so forth. The examples of Prime show that in news related to sports and entertainment, usually the appeal to characters is used. This is done by giving description about some famous sportsman, some celebrity and so on. In the example related to leadership described in the above question, emotional appeal has been used by the news makers. The news describes that hearing loss is becoming quite common in New Zealand particularly in workplaces. The description of news tells about preventive measures to control this hearing loss by describing what would happen if precautionary measures are not taken. Thus, we can say that hearing is important for every person and hearing loss is a big disease and problem. Therefore; this news has targeted at people through using an emotional appeal which means that Prime and TV 3 are using appeals as a strong tool to convince people in certain direction. Thus, the above analysis indicates how Prime has maintained its strong position by gaining attention from a large number of customers in the market. Part 2 Campbell live is a New Zealand current affairs TV program which involves series of 30 minutes each. These short news programs are shown at 7p.m from Monday to Friday and their host is John Campbell. These documentaries follow a typical pattern or sequence of stories and discussions that are shown to the people. The prominent feature is that the host as well as other presenters make use of their efficient personal style and tone to make this show a great success. Some of the major presenters are Auckland, Jendy Harper, Dan Parker, Rebecca Wright and so on. Firstly, the topics selected for this show are different and attractive for the customers. After this, these topics are discussed and explored in such a way that they could provide maximum information and critical analysis to the people. The host himself adds to the credibility of the show. His style, tone and expression are such that he grabs attention of his viewers through discussion. His basic quality is that he promotes a healthy discussion and discourse among the competitors involved. Interaction is the best way to encourage discussion among the people. Thus, it can be said that by promoting interaction, John Campbell has made his program very popular and attractive for his viewers. Another important aspect is the structure of 30 minute program. From beginning to end, the whole program is designed in such a way that there exists a proper flow of information in the discussion. This structure is efficient in a single program as well as in the whole series from Monday to Friday 7 p.m. The Campbell Live consists of national as well international news. From a diverse range of topics for example: recorded stories, interviews, news material, events and happenings, current affairs and so on. Thus, it can be said that all of these factors collectively contribute towards the success of the program. This impact can be proved by exploring the following example: What does the future hold for legal highs? This show was displayed on the Campbell series of 28th April, 2014 which explains the impact of synthetic cannabis on the lives of people. This case study shows that the host as well as the presenters focused on communities and people throughout the country. The discussion showed that Campbell had travelled across the country to illustrate the examples he described in his show. The other presenters also gave their viewpoints on the subject in a proper sequence. Thus, it can be said that the narrative of this cases study was structured in a highly interactional way. This was not a one sided story rather an effort had been made to describe both sides of the story. It explains the impact on community as well as their reaction. Conclusion Thus, the above mentioned analysis indicates that Prime TV and News 3 have been highly focused in terms of their structure, style and portrayal of news. The use of strategies have been deployed according to the need and type of the news being described. Moreover, by using the case study example from Campbell Live, the paper also showed the role of presenters in the delivery of these news programs. Hence, it can be concluded that the way news is structured can play an important part in shaping the opinions and views of the people and society at large.

Animal Farm: A Communist Manifesto :: Animal Farm Essays
Animal Farm: A Communist Manifesto à à à George Orwell's novel Animal Farm is subtitled "a Fairy Story", a label that may make the book seem innocent and appropriate for children and classroom settings. However, the title is misleading. Animal Farm is a work of Communist propaganda. It outlines and even encourages the overthrow of the government, and explains how to set up and maintain a communist state. It portrays government as corrupt and the public as stupid and easily manipulated. Orwell himself wavered between being a socialist and an anarchist. à Considering communist China's recent increased aggression, and deteriorating relations between them and the United States, the dangers of this novel must be weighed carefully. It is often taught in schools, despite the fact that it promotes un-American and anti-capitalist views. With today's political tension, do we really want our youth exposed to literature that encourages them to mistrust the government and supports a communist revolution? à Animal Farm is indeed communist propaganda. It describes how the animals overthrow the farmer and drive all humans from the farm. The animals create a set of laws, designed to eradicate all hints of humanity; humanity, of course, represents the capitalist government. The animals call each other "comrade", a clear reference to communism, and after the revolution the animals are described as being "happy as they had never conceived it possible to be" (Orwell 46). à The novel describes much of the procedure of running a communist state. It includes the organization of committees, and the indoctrination of the public in the form of the sheep. Snowball, one of the two pigs who leads the animals after the revolution, teaches the sheep to repeat the maxim "Four legs good, two legs bad," which, he feels, sums up the laws of their new system - completely against humans. Methods of propaganda are also explored. Carrier pigeons are sent to neighboring farms to deliver heroic tales of the revolution and convert other farms to 'Animalism' - the domino effect in action. Internal propaganda is the responsibility of a pig named Squealer, whose primary function is to convince the animals that the actions taken by the pigs are for their own good. This is a clear description of how to keep a communist regime in power: as long as the pubic is convinced that all actions are for their own good, they will go along with anything.

Authur Miller Essay -- essays research papers
With the Death of a Salesman during the winter of 1949 on Broadway, Arthur Miller began to live as a playwright who has since been called one of this century's three great American dramatists. He has also written other powerful, often mind-altering plays: The Crucible, A View from the Bridge, A Memory of Two Mondays, After the Fall, Incident at Vichy, and The Price. And who could forget the film The Misfits and the dramatic special Playing for Time. Death of a Salesman was not Arthur Miller's first success on Broadway. Two years before, when All My Sons opened at the Coronet Theater, Brooks Atkinson of the New York Times wrote: "The theater has acquired a genuine new talent." The play also won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award and the Donaldson Award (voted upon by Billboard subscribers). Since the debut of All My Sons he has noted: "The success of a play, especially one's first success, is somewhat like pushing against a door which is suddenly opened that was al ways securely shut until then. For myself, the experience was invigorating. It suddenly seemed that the audience was a mass of blood relations, and I sensed a warmth in the world that had not been there before. It made it possible to dream of daring more and risking more." He did however push the limits when he released his controversial piece Death of a Salesman. And, he gained even more acclaim. Soon he was awarded the Pulitzer Prize and the New York Drama Critics Circle Award. He was qui...
Action research bully
ââ¬Å"Bullying involves an initial desire to hurt, this desire is expressed in action, someone is hurt, the action is directed by a more powerful person or group, it is without justification, it is typically repeated, and it is done so with evident enjoyment. â⬠Ken Rugby (1998). The future of the youth is formed and developed within the confines of their own respective homes. It is in the home that the youth acquires basic skills, habits, and attitudes for this home molded personality. Home is the starting point of one's development into a full grown adult.Home environment is the very first place where teenagers nowadays learned how to socialize and integrate themselves with others. When a child is born he/she becomes a member of an already established social institution. He/she becomes a member of his/her own family with its already existing sets of cultural patterns and sets of social, moral, and religious values. The child also carries with it the raw materials for the deve lopment of its peculiarly unique individual personality. Once attitudes have been learned, they determine to a large extent to what an individual perceives and how he/she behaves. So, it is clear that an individual can perceive things based on the way he/she was trained in congruent with his/her primary group. It is assumed that the personality develops and changes differently in each type of the family. So whatever kind of family a child belongs, it will certainly reflect on his/her attitudes towards his/her own self and others. Bullying and being bullied have been recognized as health problems for children and teenagers because of their association with adjustment problems, including poor mental health and more extreme violent behavior. It is therefore important to understand how bullying and being bullied affect the well-being and adaptive functioning of youth. We sought to use multiple data sources to better understand the psychological and social problems exhibited by bullies, vi ctims, and bully-victims. Of today's living, family conflicts or stormy relationships consisting within the family could be one of the factors that cause the misbehaver of students in and out of the home. Their place of learning or school environment serves as the outlet of their emotions and feelings. In connection with this, the researchers, found it interesting and worthy to study he veracity behind this issue. To find out what are the factors in the home environment that can possibly contribute to the change of the bully behavior and how this would affect his/her relationships and attitudes towards other people. Background of the Study Home is the place where the child initially learns or can learn his most basic values, aspirations and attitudes. Because of its major role as transmission belt, there is concern not only for what the family does but also for what it fails to do.Consciously and unconsciously, a parent sets patterns in their children on the basis of which their soci al growth is guided. Children absorb from their parents certain attitudes toward interpersonal or social relationships, getting an education, religion and others. The social personality of the child depends greatly upon the nature of these behaviors. The growing youngsters need to become accustomed increasingly to enable them to apply, to persons and groups outside the family, the sympathetic interest and the creative-partnership process which have been cultivated within the family circle.Statement of the Problem The study attempted to determine the influence of home environment on the behavior of the bullies to the students. More specifically, it attempts to answer the following questions: 1 . What is the level of behavior of the respondent? 2. How do the level of influences of the following compared when group according to the given characteristics: 2. 1 Home environment 2. 2 Behavior 3. How does the level of influences of the home environment compared to the level of behavior of the respondents?Purpose of the study This research primarily aims to know the influences of the home environment on the behaviors of the bullies. This study influences according to their characteristics and home environment, and behavior. Significance of the study Since the development of the child is to a great extent dependent on the influence of the home, if the home is not self-sufficient to provide personality development of the child, the school therefore, enters as necessary complement and supplement of the home.In connection with this, the findings of the study will be useful and of great help to parent and teachers in understanding the attitudes of the students in and out of the school premises. It will help determine the needs of the students physically, emotionally and socially. It is also helpful in strengthening parents and hill's relationship as a whole. Furthermore, this study is important not only to the parents but also to teachers because it will help them understa nd their work better so that they can cooperate in helping the child's active participation in social living. The findings of this study are also relevant to the students themselves, for they may be guided in realizing the extent of their deviation from the group average in their personal and social relationships. Such realization may lead them to deeper insights and ultimately to self-direction and self-realization. Scope and Delimitation of the Study This research focused on the influences of the home environment on the behaviors of the bullies. The researchers limit their study only to the identified bullies in the students. Methods of Research and Procedure This chapter includes the method and procedure that will be used in gathering the data, the subjects of the study, the sampling techniques, and the statistical treatment employed in the interpreting data. Research Methodology The researchers will use the Descriptive Method, which is the type of study design to gain more informa tion in order to come up with a systematic method of data gathering and analysis. It aims to identify the relationship of self-esteem and reputation of the bullies. Subjects of the Study The researchers used a total of 203 students from different courses. Not all of them are bullies. The researchers disregarded 98 students because they are not identified as not bully so, they only 105 students were used as their subject. Sampling Technique The Purposive Sampling will serve as a sampling technique for all the 2nd year students. The subjects of the study in this particular sampling process has a unique characteristic, hence, not Just anybody can be included as sample for the study. Consider this research, only the ââ¬Å"bulliesâ⬠are considered as the sample for this study. Procedure and Data Gathering Another set of questionnaires were given to the subjects.Primary data are the data collected by the researchers come from the respondents who answered the questionnaires. A review of related literature and studies from books, internet, and reference materials are used to gather information. 1 . The researchers conducted instruments that were validated through the professors. 2. The researchers inquired the total population of enrolled second year students in Science and Technology. . Permission and willingness to participate from the respondents were secured before conducting the actual study.Methodology This chapter presents, analyzes and interprets the data gathered from bullies in college students as to the influences of the home environment to their behavior in school. The various data gathered are analyzed and interpreted in the following tables to answer the specific questions posed in this study. The Demographic Profile of the Respondents This answers the question that would present the respondent's profile such as age, sex, course, family status, birth order, no. F siblings, and the family monthly income. Table 1. 1 Frequency Distribution of the Respo ndent's Age Age Frequency Percentage 19 15 14. 18 43. 8 17 36. 2 16 6 5. 7 Total 105 As seen in the table of the frequency and percentage distribution of the respondent's age, out of the 105 respondents, 46 or 43. 8% of them are 18 years old, 38 or 36. 2% of the respondents are 17 years old, 15 or 14. 3% of the respondents are 19 years old, and 6 or 5. 7% of the respondents are 16 years old. This only shows that majority of the respondent's age is 18 years old while minorities of them is 16 years old. Table 1. 2 Frequency Distribution on the Sex of the Respondents Gender Male 56 53. 33 Female 49 46. 7 respondent's sex, out of the 105 respondents, 56 or 53. 33% are males and 49 or 46. 67% are females. This only shows that majority of the respondents are males and minorities of them are females. Frequency Distribution on the Level of Socio-Economic of the Respondents Socio- Economic High 25 23. 8 Average 39 37. 1 Low 41 39. 0 As seen in the table of the frequency and percentage distri bution of the respondent's socio-economic status, out of the 105 respondents, 41 or 39% of them are not disturbed about their socio-economic status, 39 or 37. Of the respondents are slightly disturbed about their socio-economic status, and 25 or 23. 8% of the respondents are slightly disturbed about their socio-economic status. This only shows that majority of the respondents are not disturbed with their socio-economic status. Summary, Conclusion and Recommendation This chapter includes the discussion of the summary of the study and generalizations in the form of conclusions and recommendations for the solution of the problem in the study addressed to those concerned. The research employed the use of the descriptive method which involved the analysis of the relationship between the level of social estrangement to the level of anxiety and level of depression of the respondents. Summary of findings There is no significant effect in the level of behavior of the respondents when grouped according to their sibling relationship, parents' relationship, parent relationship, and socio-economic status, while there is a significant difference in the level of behavior of the respondents in terms of their parenting styles. There is no significant effect in the level of parents' relationship of the respondents when grouped according to their age, sex, course, family status, birth order, no.
